Autumn Harvest Sampler from Kathy Barrick Autumn Harvest Sampler -- Quilts and cats, a log cabin, very primitive in personality!
Welcome Spring Just a trio of Easter Eggs to stitch and adorn your baskets of eggs! Each egg measures somewhere around 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 -- they are all slightly different. Stitched with Sampler Threads or DMC, Lady Dot's Baby Ball Fringe Trim in Vintage and Rainy are featured.
Harvest Blessings Stitched with a mixture of brands of hand-dyed flosses, the houses will take a little longer to work up than the Blessings Penny rug piece. Actually, the houses -- which are all about 30 x 40 each -- would make awesome individual cushions! Toss them in a basket with the sunflowers and trees constructed into their OWN set of cushions -- you could make 6 smalls out of this! Just fun, simple charts!
An Autumn Pin Pillow Autumnal colors for the little house and it's garden vine... this chart stitches into a 4 x 5-1/2 inch cushion. You could leave off the *autumn* and add a couple more blooms to the upper vine, just a quiet bitty piece! Coded for DMC or hand-dyeds, it is worked on neutral colored fabric.
Merry Christmas Another *Bowl Filler* for Christmastime! Finishing approx 5 x 7 on 30ct, hand-dyed flosses, stitch MERRY, but leave off Christmas, and put your family name there instead! Then, tuck it into that awesome basket or bowl!
To Thine Ownself... Be True Abby Rose presents four new pin cushion-sized designs... To Thine Ownself... Be True is just one. (The other three are described on our interior AR page) Offered as a chart, it is worked on 30ct (but can be anything you want!) in soft pinks, greens and browns of Gentle Art Sampler Threads. Not big, not a series, not representing a season, this is simply a lovely little design! Want some chenille or hand-dyed silk trim for it? We have lots to choose from and can do that for you!
I Pledge Allegiance Sam Sarah's design that is very timely! Offered as a chart, it comes with a small button or two. How about a bowl of Political Pin Cushions??? Choose some Lady Dot Creates Union, Sizzle, Vintage, Snow or Vanilla Ball Fringe or chenille to trim these -- get the trim and then match your hand-dyed threads for the set! I Pledge Allegiance -- Stitched on Week's Dye Works 30ct Periwinkle Linen with over-dyed flosses, there are 5 star buttons included with the chart. Finishes approx 6 x 3-1/2.
You Are My Angel from Cuore e Batticuore A stitch count of 164 x 95, this is stitched with two colors -- pink or blue and white. (Click the image at right to see more options.) It'd make a lovely pillow on a bed -- natural or white linen, pastel colors... just simple but stunning!
The Last of the 4 Seasons of Floral Pots and Vases Wow... these are gorgeous!! Each chart has 6 different pots, urns or vases of seasonal florals surrounded by a fillagreed border. The cover pics are very small, but opening the charts -- they are printed beautifully in color and can easily be stitched individually. The actual florals run about 50 x 50 stitches each, without their borders and names. Charted for DMC, this is a lovely collection, you could split them up and make a whole bunch of pin cushions for one basket... or a long row to hang horizontally or vertically on a skinny wall... so pretty! Autunno has pretty oak, maple and elder arrangements -- just beautiful!
Be My Valentine More cute Gnome charm... they are just sitting there on the tree branch -- Love is in the air! Stitch count of 106 x 148... you might have someone to stitch this for!!!
Twinkle, Twinkle, Christmas Star By Cuore e Batticuore of Italy, this pretty piece just LOOKS like it's twinkling! A pair of angels floating over a lacy star, it measures 189 x 210 - so 10-1/2 x 13 on 36ct, and is stitched with DMC. The fabric they used is actually printed with the little spots. If that is not available to you - just stitch them individually... kind of a pain... but really, really charming if you can stick with it! This design would be perfect for bead and opalescent metallic additions - make all that snow glisten!
Pink Power from PuntiniPuntini" *Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink!* Isn't this a happy piece? It has a coconut drink with a little umbrella for that sunshine, palm fronds and a darling handmade polymer clay flamingo pin! Paola's piece is stitched on a pale green fabric color using DMC flosses. It finishes approx 6 x 7 on 16/32ct, and the flamingo button is included with the chart! Happy sunshine with a little pink!
Cat and Dog Lovers Presented as charts, each measures 70 x 90 in stitch count. Coded for DMC, change your house colors and what you have growing in the pots if you need to... but don't change the cute little clay puppy or kitty sitting on the front steps! You get that button along with the round 'paw' button above the door, and the matching (smaller version) dog or cat pin that you see up on the roof. If you stitch just the house, and not the bottom border, they'd make a 4-inch pin cushion, and then you could stick that pin in there where ever you want! Each chart comes with its necessary 3 Puntini clay pieces. And don't miss the Dog Pins and Cat Pins, just below, if you want even more embellishment!
LOVE *Is all around you* This is rather a simple chart which can be stitched on any fabric, using a color of your choice. What makes it special are the button and pin embellishments included. Hand-made by Puntini, you are getting 4 alphabet 'tiles' that remind one of Scrabble letters, along with 2 decorated hearts and a matching heart pin. The buttons have a definite cream color... so do be careful to choose fabrics and threads that compliment and not clash. Very cute design, this would make a fun wedding announcement! Presented as the chart with pin and buttons, make sure to see the rest of the Puntini hand-made pin and button collection we have -- it is full of CHARMING things!
What Do You Fancy Beside the Seaside? *Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!* Only 60 x 60 in stitch count, frame this, cushion it... big count or little... not involved, but it's cute! Leaflet, hand-dyed or DMC flosses.
Strawberry Suite A trio of Summertime smalls, finish any of these into bitty fobs or ornaments -- even that larger piece is only 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 on 32ct!!! Grab some pretty colors of fabric from your stash, the leaflet comes with a tiny glass flower bead embellishment... but you might have a couple of other small trinkets that would be cute on these, too. Charted for Anchor or DMC... you might have schnibbles of hand-dyeds you want to add as well.
Birds and Bees *Bless the flowers and the weeds, all the birds and buzzing bees.* (except those buzzing bees in my house!) Presented as a chart with a few glass seed bead embellishments, this finishes approx 3-1/3 x 6-1/2 on 32ct -- not very big at all. You could make this into a pin cushion, too -- it's not too large for that.
Christmas Cheer 2 Leaflet from Heart in Hand Five bitty designs in here... make ornaments, fobs, pin cushions... whatever! Very simple designs, you can probably even choose colors of threads from your stash based on the cover pic of the leaflet. Check out the finishing ideas for the pillows... all five charts are clearly presented ... see how you can dress them up for the season!
Halloween Another of Sara's 'landscape' scenes... Halloween measures about 17 inches square on 32ct -- the same as all her other scenes. This one -- just like all the rest -- has great smaller motif areas you can grab out and stitch individually, but together, this gives you a busy scene full of great color, lots to see, and charming design elements. The ghosts are neat, the little cauldron at the bottom is kind of fun, LOVE that messy spider web in the tree, and actually that moon in the upper corner is neat with leaves in front of it. Coded for DMC floss. SUPER cute!
Halloween Sampler Halloween Sampler -- Lots of scary haunted castles, witches flying everywhere, and dangling spiders... this is kind of on the heavier side of halloween. 278 Stitch count... same size as the rest in this series, 20 shades of DMC are called for.
Spring and Summer 2018 Pretty borders and small scenes are scattered amidst the houses and floral blocks of these seasonal pieces. Each measures a whopping 360 x 190 in stitch count -- or 20 x 11 on 18/36ct. Kind of large... so if you don't want that whole thing, break apart the design elements and use your favorites. The Spring houses are really charming. We laughed in the shop when these came in. The date is in the title... so I guess when you look at these in your stash in upcoming years... you'll know how long you've had them! (not always a friendly reminder!) Charted for approx 40 different shades of DMC floss!
Spring and Winter Samplers Gorgeous sprigs of florals scattered everywhere, there are tiny village scenes tossed in between as well. To the left of center there is an animal pile-up that is charming!
Summer & Autumn Samplers These are charming medleys of all sorts of scenes, motifs, and memories of the Summer and Autumn seasons. By Italian artist Sara Guermani, each is presented in chart format and designs measure 278 x 263 in stitch count. That makes them 14-ish inches square on 40ct or 19-1/2 on 28/14ct. You can choose any fabric and count you like, though, AND stitch ANY or ALL parts of each piece. Charted for DMC floss, there are little villages and animals all over the place... and you can see how the little sections would be fun to break up and stitch individually to make smaller cushions. You could make a whole bundle of bitty things to nestle in a basket... or make a larger statement for your walls.
Winter 2018 By Sara Guermani, this is cute! A city scene... complete with row of (dark?!) houses, carolers and snow-man-builders, the 5 individual boxes of motifs at the top, and the cute things inside of them!! This measures 356 x 191 - which is nuts! 12 x 16...
Home Sweet Home from The Stitching Shed Well, the verse says it all! finishing approx 7 x 7, this one would be cute with some hand-dyed flosses tucked into the grass and sky. On The Move For the boy... each of these finishes approx 6-1/2 x 7. You could leave off the words at the top and personalize these if you'd like... you could even leave the stitching out of the middle and insert a photograph -- just like a stitched photo frame!
| |||||||
Gathering Honey A piece dedicated to 'industry'... *How doth the little busy bee improve each shining hour and gather honey all the day from every opening flower..* Pretty honey colors of Gentle Art Sampler Threads or DMCs... this finishes 10 x 13 on 32ct. Pretty in a kitchen or sunny breezeway or back hallway I think.
The Seamstress from Perrette Samouiloff Here is another neat design about stitching, that just begs to be displayed with The Stitcher, shown above. So we put it here. Choose your favorite color of hand-dyed thread (or solid DMC if you'd rather) and stitch this glorious medley of everything dressmaker! Just like some of the other 'stitch-related' designs we have, you can take small motifs out of this and make some REALLY cute pin cushions, or do the whole thing to frame and hang. Choose any fabric you like... on 14/28 this finishes 9-1/2 x 11-1/2.
Midsummer Song from Luminous Fiber Arts The cuckoo comes in April and stays the month of May... he's singing a delightful song in the pretty garden! The strawberry vine is cool, the trees are neat, this is just a very cheerful and colorful design! Measures 168 x 236, coded for DMC; Vintage Country Mocha is one of the fabric suggestions
| |||||||
New and SMALL-ISH designs We're always after Karen of Rosewood Manor to design us some smaller designs to complement her many large ones. We have 11 of the results!!!!! 1/2 Sized charts - clear and pretty color pics on the covers, nice and large charts on the inside. Each of these comes with its hand-dyed floss from South Africa (!) or bunches of little hand-dyed buttons from Just Another Button Company (from IL!). Most are done on Antique White fabric... lots of fabric options with that! Make sure to scroll down this page to see the other 7 designs!

Garden Visit, Espresso and Cappuccino
| |||||||
Sunshine, Neighbors... Buttons Everywhere!
| |||||||
Spring, Summer Autumn and Winter The 4 Seasons all done with baskets of flowers and some 'busy-ness' in the backgrounds. These all measure the same 96 x 64 in stitch count. Choose a 16 or 32ct Antique White fabric; these are all worked with their 5 colors of hand-dyed floss from House of Embroidery of South Africa. I think the Summer and Autumn are my favorites... I love the profusion of all the background stuff!!!
Chronicles of Oline Marie from Summer House Stitche Workes This is a small bit taken from an antique Norwegian sampler stitched in 1844. Measuring 104 stitches square, it'll finish into a larger-ish pin cushion, the coordinating fob is smaller at 50 x 50. Stitched with DMCs of 502, 841, 733, 640, 833, 676, and 543, it's a very soft palette, and looks elegant decorated with the vintage pearl buttons. Presented as a single sheet chart.
Cozy Winter Samplers from Romy's Creations A cute little puppy dog is stitching under her lamp, feet perched on a stool, with hot chocolate near-by. Not sure what makes it all so cute, but it is! Presented in chart format, this is coded for DMC and finishes about 4-1/2 x 7 on 32ct Country Vintage Mocha linen.
| |||||||
Virtue from La-D-Da A petite 6 x 8 piece... this is an organized little thing! A border of 'pennies', the abundant tree... the tidy house... we aren't sure what 'Virtue' has to do with a house... so we think this one is NOT one of ill-repute! Choose a neutral fabric, this uses 3 hand-dyed flosses and some DMCs.
Where My heart Is *Home is...* Just 113 x 85 in stitch count, this is charted for both DMC and a few hand-dyeds. Nothing fancy, everything is worked over two threads except the verse -- which is over one.
The Fetishes -- This is a set of 4 small designs, 100 x 100 stitches. Patterned after different types of samplers, Lori thinks she'll do a set of 12 of these!
Flowers for Beatrice A classic little marking band sampler - in the olden days, little girls stitched these to practice forming letters so they could legibly label the family linens. Stitch with a combination of DMC and Weeks hand-dyed cotton flosses, Lori has used all the favuorite stitches found in these old samplers - everything divided a band. Smyrnas were usually the alphabet letters. Double Backstitch, Open Herringbone, Fly, Diamond Eyelets and Rices abound as well! Skip the special stitches or do them all... this 91 x 215 piece finishes a narrow 5 x 12 on 36ct.
My Little Sampler Just a cute little piece, measuring 109 x 127 on Week's 30ct Capuccino Linen, charted for silks or DMC. We have the Needlepoint Inc silks for this one, too!
| |||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
Paul Revere Hornbook Wow... both sides of this are stitched, and they both open up to reveal wool needle pages underneath. (You could get TWO hornbooks, then none of your stitching is ever laying hidden on a backside!!!) Presented as a chart, both 4 x 5-ish designs are worked on Week's 35 (or 36ct) Straw Linen with 17 different shades of hand-dyed floss. Each is Nun-Stitched around the edges for close finishing. Sewn onto the wooden board with buttons, you're going to need to drill some holes in the wood if that is how you choose to finish these. Untie the cording at the bottom button to lift your stitching to find the cut of Week's Camel (color) wool that could hold stray needles.
Nantucket Beach What a charming beach scene from years and years ago! How pretty to hang in a seaside cottage setting... I want to go there!!! Stitched on 32ct Lambswool Linen in Weeks and Gentle Art overdyeds, everything is stitched in Cross Stitch -- but the people are worked over one thread, and the ladder and wheels on the bath houses are couched long stitches. Charming old-fashioned striped swim suits, I love the soft, sandy colors and those tiny wheeled houses! Offered as a chart, this finishes approx 5 x 9.
Clean Dishes from Dames of the Needle This would make a fun Halloween decoration for the kitchen... although it really isn't technically a Halloween design. *Scary Cat, Salem Witches, need a spell to clean my dishes!* Pick a mangy fabric, and choose any black hand-dyed thread you have... this measures 72 x 198 in size - so 4-1/7 x 7 on 32ct. It'd be a fun little stand-up cube just sitting there on the counter! Presented as a chart.
White Pumpkins Sampler from Dames of the Needle After all the summer fruit has ripened and fallen from the vine, the white pumpkin starts to shine. It awaits it's glory in the cool days of Fall. This a really neat piece! Unfortunately, the picture on the cover of the small chart won't show you the potential of this design. The funky little urn with its super-bold stripes and all the pumpkin vines trailing everywhere, the verse stitched over one, it finishes a petite 6 x 7 on Weeks Dye Works 36ct Cocoa Linen! I think that is another part of its charm -- it's little! Get out your Weeks and Sampler Threads of Angel Hair, Bullfrog, Caper, Carriage Black, Grasshopper, Pebble, Schneckley, Straw, Tin Roof, Wood Smoke, and Wrought Iron.
Noah from Sisters & Best Friends Here is a cheerful little ark... bursting with animals, and Noah! Is the rain cloud leaving and sun coming??? ... or the other way around?! Offered as a leaflet with a delightful set of colorful buttons and a smattering of beads, the thread list uses 29 different colors of DMC, Crescent Colours, Weeks Dye Works and Sampler Threads! This piece is so full of color, you'll love stitching it! Worked on 18ct linen, over two threads, using 4 strands of floss, Noah finishes an impressive 11 x 13! No special stitches, just lots of personality!
St Nick's Noel Oh, this little guy is really cute this year! He is stitched on 30ct Guacamole Week's Linen with various hand-dyed flosses. YOU GET the pre-cut felt tree piece and the silver beads to adorn -- all with the chart! He finishes approx 3 x 7... cute for a cube stand-up or little pillow. That wool tree adds a nice touch of texture and a bit of *unique!* Restful colors of dusty greens and deep reds. Offered as the chart with embellishments.
Twirl *When in doubt... Twirl!* What a cute design!!! Everyone who sees this just loves it! By AB Designs, offered as a single chart, this is stitched on Week's 30ct chartreuse linen with a small variety of flosses and a bit of silk and metallic. (You have lots of substitute options from your stash with this one -- not to worry!) Finishing approx 5 x 11, Amy has made a pink and orange clay flower to embellish, and there are glass beads garnishing the *wind* around this little guy!!! Offered as a single chart.
All Things Warm and Cozy ab Designs has another charming design that uses the new DMC Memory Thread! This awesome stocking would be awesome FINISHED as a stocking... it's stitched with Sampler Threads, and features a neat woolen heart applique, and a few red glass seed beads. Deep, rich colors of Apple Cider, Woodsmoke, Buckeye Scarlet, Dark Chocolate, Raven Oatmeal and Parchment... it just LOOKS like a comfortable old sock! Notice the curly-Q stuff around the sheep and holding the heart? THAT is the DMC Memory Thread. It's actually thread-covered wire that you twist and attach just however you want, to get such a fun and whimsical effect! This design uses the Gold color, and finishes approx 9 x 11 on 28ct. Offered as the chart with woolen heart and beads, linen, flosses and Memory Thread offered separately.
Snarky Stuff by Amy! Just funny sayings that are super fun to have on display in just the right places!!! *But First Coffee* and *That's a horrible idea* -- Both designs in this chart, they come with a smattering of small green buttons. You can even add some of the PuntiniPuntini coffee buttons! Again, any fabrics you want, change colors too if you want!
Christmas Calories Don't Count Well in a perfect world, I guess! AB has a cute design that needs to be mounted on a chalkboard stand or something -- some sort of presentation to preside over the tempting Christmas Cookie tray of sin! Her pattern comes as a chart with cuts of two different colors of brown wool, red heart buttons and DMC Memory Wire Thread for icing decorations to make delightful felt gingerbread men! The stitching is only 5 x 6-ish on 28ct... so this is a creative, quick thing to dress up your kitchen cooie tray!
Crazy Dog Lady! Two of AB's new designs... we all have that friend who is NUTS about their cat or dog... they dress them, they cook real people food for them, they skype with them, they even stick them in their purses to go shopping together! (well maybe not the CAT!) Anyway, she needs this! Dog was released a few weeks ago -- Cat just came. Offered as two separate charts -- both measure 61 x 133 in stitch count -- about 6 x 14 on 14ct. CAT comes with a felt fish for trim, DOG comes with a felt bone. Cute as can be... you could skip the top two cats to save stitching time... but not if that offends that Crazy Cat Lover!
Fantasy Biscornus - Beginning January of 2019 from Tiny Modernist This is a set of unique subjects (!) all stitched into approx 4-inch squares. Stitched on both sides... you really end up with 24 designs in this series. Stitch them flat and frame them, or make small pin cushions, or do the offset Biscornu finishing treatment for the tufted versions. The first design is the dragon; next is a mermaid. Others will include a gnome, genie, unicorn... you get the idea. More cute and colorful stuff by Tiny Modernist!

Give Ye Thanks from Teresa Kogut Here's another one that has great *bones!* Over two on Week's 30ct Cocoa Linen, it finishes approx 7 x 5-/14 in size. Pretty autumnal overdyeds and a couple of DMCs... add some JABCO buttons all over the place on here! The border would be a good place for leaves to be scattered... you could even do Satins in there, or on the barn. And then there are always the berries on the branches... lots of god design elements in here.
The Greatest Gift from Teresa Kogut Oh... love from one to the other! Finishing approx 6-1/4 x 5-1/2, lots of easy, solid stitching in this one.
More Theresa Kogut on Sale!

Just SOME of our New Arrivals by Teresa Kogut Oh My Bird is presented on Graham Cracker Linen - so choose a pretty golden brown you like to highlight your colors! DMCs and hand-dyeds, it finishes about 8 x 12 on 32ct.
| |||||||
| |||||||
Spiders 'n Bones and The Tricky Witch Treat Bags Here's a fun set of 8 x 8-ish treat bags that feature your stitching on both sides. Offered as two separate charts -- the skeletons are one, the witch is the other. The simple designs are stitched on 18ct Natural linen and measure approx 4 x 4 each. Cynthia has the charts placed on one piece of fabric, so as you construct your little bag the fabric is folded across the bottom. Cute designs, both are stitched in DMC with bits of hand-dyed floss from your stash. Our charts include the black or orange mini-buttons featured in the bats and witch dress. Super quick to stitch... what a fun way to use cute Halloween fabrics for finishing along with flourishes of cool ribbons! They would also be cute as hard-sided buckets -- either way -- cute centerpieces to hold that precious Halloween candy!
Front Yard Flowers This is a captivating piece -- petite at 60 x 60 stitches -- and packed with something like 25 tiny specialty stitches. The matching needlebook is even a tinier version of the 'big' piece! Texture and fun detail everywhere... you'll want to showcase this piece on the top of Olde Colonial's Small Dowry Box, or frame it and display on a table-top easel. You want everyone to be able to see all the stitch detail easily. Offered as a chart, coded for silks, it looks like FUN to stitch, because all is packed into such a tiny area.
| |||||||
Home Springs Eternal What a pretty piece by Shakespeare's Peddler -- the house, the alphabet, the border and basket -- and of course the lock and key to keep all safe and sound! Teresa's sampler has a stitch count of 145 x 95, and can be stitched on almost any fabric of your choice. She chose two different colorways for this, or you can follow the alternate selections of Sampler Threads (in the regular color line) or even DMC. Pretty browns and greens, the house is stitched in Gold Rush (Gold Leaf) and there is a hint of Raisin (Grape Arbor) in the window panes and flowers. Offered as the chart with coordinating clay flower button embellishment (see it on the floral urn?)
I Love the Birds Gosh, this is a sweet piece... its a tribute to the birds in your garden!!! Designed by Teresa of Shakespeare's Peddler, it measures 72 x 196 stitches, and can be worked in its DMC flosses on any number of different fabrics. (you choose!) 'I love the birds and count them all. They sit upon my garden wall. One, two, three, Crow, Lark Wren. Then one, two, three, they're gone again.' Something pretty and totally *finishable* for a busy stitcher!!!! Offered as a chart.
Antique Spring Sampler -- Ann Hobbs 1834 This is another sampler residing in Teresa's *Private Collection* (how neat is that!) that came from England. Originally stitched in 1834, the color palette of this features soft shades of beige, blue, gold, rose and coral -- so lovely! Teresa includes a page of history about Ann, where she came from, and speculation about ink spills on her original piece. That sort of thing is so much fun to read about! The verse reminds one to not put off things that are worthwhile... not 'To Put Religion By'...Very, very pretty! (She loaned us her stitched piece for a few weeks!)
Sarah Woodham 1770 This is Teresa's reproduction of a 1770's sampler she fell in love with in an antique shop and purchased! Beautifully charted, she has an entire page of thoughts about the original stitcher, her talents, and ideas about missing motifs and color choices. The verse is a prayer by Sarah that gives thanks for her good life, and a plea to make her a better person towards others. The words are all stitched over one thread, while the rest of the piece is over two -- Teresa says this has over 25,000 stitches in it! Charted for DMC, Sampler Threads or silks, this finishes approx 12 x 14-1/2 on 40ct! Simply lovely, this piece has such balance, pretty and graceful motifs, awesome color, and just general CHARM! One of Teresa's favorite parts are the two girls near the bottom that are standing there with their hands on their hips! Definitely a happy sampler! Offered as a chart.
Hannah's Sampler from Shakespeare's Peddler Here is Shakespeare's Peddler's newest reproduction sampler - Hannah's Sampler. Theresa found the original in terrible condition, but could tell she loved the leafy border and the charming farmhouse - next to the brick wall - covering that little babbling brook. Very pretty colors of reds and greens in here, the row of diamonds below the alphabet are done with Rice Stitch. Those bricks in the wall and the waves in the water are all loosely placed in the original... so neat... you can do that too. Stitched on 36ct Weeks Straw Linen with silks (Gloriana, Needlepoint Inc and Au Ver a Soie) or DMC, it measures a generous 16-1/2 x 15-1/2 in size. Teresa came to Tulsa for a weekend retreat in our new 'She Shed' Stitching Room... and presented this sampler as our Silver Needle exclusive. (Our class included three small take-out designs from this charming piece... so the weekend was really a treat.) 'Raggamuffin #3' refers to her third antique reproduction piece that came from a really ratty, mangy, and damaged sampler that just needed a little love! So... Hannah's original sampler as well as her reproduction now hang happily at our shop... and she'll be here for years to come!
God Bless Those... Who struggle to be free. Teresa designed this the week Egypt won its revolution for freedom! Offered only for a short while, it comes as a small kit with either 40 or 32ct Vintage Examplar Linen by Lakeside (very warm honey color), and three skeins of un-released limited edition Sampler Threads (a gold, a red-ish brown and a golden-brown.) Her model is made into a pin-cushion piece, stuffed with something heavy -- like rice or walnut shells. Doesn't need any more description from me... that verse says it all!
All Things Sampler Here's a fun design... it's a medley of cute motifs that might be found in Pennsylvania Dutch Antique Samplers. Check out the mermaid right above the letter m!! An acorn, windmill, that mermaid, squirrel, a baby cradle, a key, cat and quilt... this is charming! Offered in leaflet format, this is stitched on Weeks 35ct Confederate Gray linen using Classic Colorworks Belle Soie Silks. Get out that stash... because there are 23 different colors in here! Hopefully you have a bunch of them, because they run $7.50 each!!! Finished size is 8 x 19!!!!! Offered as the leaflet.
Apple Blossom Needlebook and Scissor Case from Faby Reilly Designs Such a pretty sewing set... we have a biscornu that matches these. Worked on 32ct Antique White Belfast linen in DMCs and embellished with a touch of gold beading, these are full of brilliant pinks and bold greens. Every piece in the set features a slightly different version of the signature design, so everything matches but is unique! Offered as two different charts.
My World This is a really cool punch needle piece that we have had in the shop this Fall... but I've somehow missed showing you on-line!!! One of my personal favorites... it is a round scene of a village in the four seasons! By Threads That Bind, it punches into a 6-inch round little rug, that we have perched on top of a painted shaker box. Look closely... you see the city in the Fall, farmyard in the Spring, seashore in the Summer, and mountains in the Winter. Lots of fun detail and pretty colors, this design is so unique and really charming! Offered as the design stamped onto khaki-colored weaver's cloth, you supply your punch needles and floss. Finally, American Roots -- a cute house-on-the-hill scene, I love the Penny Rug detail down in the yard. Punched with three strands, you can see lots of color movement in this one -- that is simply alternating colors of DMC in your needle as you change threads! This one finishes 5 x 5-3/4.
Grandma's House A neatly-kept house, lavish garden and lots of birds... the flag is a little saggy, but Grandma has been busy tending to that property!!! Finishing 4 x 8.
Chalkboard Lesson A smart alphabet is punched amidst a checkerboard chalkboard! Super-hard to see in the pic, but the background is a checkerboard of DMC 3021 and 3371. The house and flower seem to sprout in an instant... bursts of color against the dark background. Very striking, this is a very pretty piece! Finishes approx 5 x 5 on the weaver's cloth, the piece is then 'matted' with a piece of Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed houndstooth wool.
Spooktacular Night Just a bitty Punch needle design - 5 x 5 in size. This would be a nice and easy one to begin with, because it's not too involved. Lots of curves that follow each other, and lots of 'solid' spaces.
Hilda Is she over-the-top, or what??? Hilda punches approx 5-1/2 inches square, and features a row of light-colored punches all around to highlight her! Remember, the roiling background is simply different colors of DMC!
Trick or Treat I LOVE this green cyclops spider... he's leaving the web, complete with his Jack-O-Lantern Trick or Treat pail... to get the goods!!! How Charming!!! He measures approx 5-1/2 inches square, and is punched in DMC #580 green! Talk about personality!
Reindeer Route Oh, we like this one! We like that hill, and the houses and trees cascading right along it. It's light and colorful -- the sky is a mixture of 522 and 524. Again, all DMC flosses, 3-strand needle, this finishes 5 x 5.
New Smalls Presented in a small kit format -- with all the cool materials needed to make them. Tenderness of Heart makes a 2-inch fob -- square, but with a little angle on one corner. You can see how petite it is in my hand. Stitched over one and two threads on 32ct Attic Lace linen with soft DMC's of roses and greens, it features pretty lace and baby rik-rak trim along with button embellishments. You even get a copper penny in here, to stuff into the fob for luck!
Millicent's Miser Purse Hey, this is FUN! It's a skinny little purse patterned after antiques! I guess the misers didn't want a purse that was easy to get into!!!!! Stitched on the included 32ct linen with the included flosses, this finishes about 1 x 7! It features a twine drawstring closure, so brass rings are included to help with that part of the finishing. The back of the little purse is an actual piece of burgundy colored twill tape. Just the most unusual thing! Beads are included for that looped fringe along the bottom!
Crabtree Remembered is a *mattress-shaped* pin cushion -- 3 x 3 x 1-ish in size. Stitched with purple, green, cream and black, she has this backed with black felt. It's very striking! The complete kit contains the linen, flosses, chart, needle, felt, AND three black mourning pins that you see sticking from it!
Sylvie's Penny Bag This is the cutest thing... it's a mis-shapen little purse that you might have used years ago to keep track of your pennies! After all... Purple Thread's Mother always told her that if you watch your pennies the dollars will take care of themselves. Stitch the miniature patchwork design on the 36ct Flax linen with one ply of hand-dyed floss or wool -- everything is presented on pre-sorted and labeled thread cards for you. Not much stitching, the added buttons, bitty wool circles, the silk ribbon bow, and the couched dividing lines add color and personality. Construct your tiny 2 x 4 bag with the muslin lining, the brown striped finishing fabric for the back, and the drawstring which tucks inside the brown grosgrain ribbon topping. A very different and colorful piece... I like it a lot!
Take (No One) (Nothing) for Granted Such a pretty piece, this is a small cushion design worked over two on 32ct Flax Belfast Linen. The kit includes pretty roses and greens of over-dyed flosses and a 13-inch length of the most gorgeous pink chenille trim. It isn't enough to go around an entire cushion, and Sharon has framed it instead -- using that chenille to 'bring in' the edges of the piece to fit into a mis-matched frame she found. A different finishing option for using cool trims -- and even some old buttons. Offered as the small kit of linen, threads and trim.
Hocus Pocus A small Needlebook and Pin Keep set, this is offered in a small, complete kit format. The Weeks Sweet Potato and Gentle Art Blackboard hand-dyeds are stitched against a cut of R & R 30ct linen. The kit includes all your orange and black lining and Warm 'n Natural puffing pieces, all the boards and ribbons, even black glass-headed pins and a penny to stuff inside the wheel for good luck! Each piece finishes approx 2 inches in size.
Tenderness of Heart The Purple Thread has several new releases... this pillow is elegant! *There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.* Stitched on R & R 30ct hand-dyed Lace Linen with Gentle Art and Week's cottons, the scattered motifs are worked in special stitches, and tiny what-nots garnish everywhere! Offered as a complete kit -- presented in a lovely brown paper folder -- the kit contains the linen, threads, and backing fabric for your 7 x 7-ish pillow. The featured (and included) embellishments include a Charland sterling silver heart charm, a mother-of-pearl button, a few tiny clay buttons, twill tape for the corner finishing treatment, silk ribbons, lace and the most STUNNING hand-stitched and wrapped pin-wheel button -- a Dorset button -- from England. The front of the button looks like all is simply wrapped in thread... but on the back you can see that it is actually a very intricate hand-made thing! Just a lovely design, such pretty colors and materials -- its a treat!
Mrs Reppert's Herb Bag This is a delightful design -- approx 3-1/2 inches square that is worked in overdyed cottons on R & R 30ct Old Mill Java linen. It is finished into a little fabric bag, suitable to hold fragrant herbs. Offered as a small, complete kit... along with the chart, threads, linen, beads buttons and ribbons, the lining and backing fabrics are also here. The backing fabric is so neat -- it features 'embroidered' x's on it... hard to explain... but a really neat textured fabric. Dedicated to designer Sharon's favorite shop-lady -- Mrs Reppert -- who opened her lovely herb shop -- The Rosemary Shop -- in Mechanicsburg, PA in 1968.
Four Fun Smalls Ms Sharon was busy this season creating 4 darling new small projects... she always presents them in kit format with the coolest little embellishments and materials!
| |||||||
Every Stitch Has a Story This is a fun scissor holder that doubles as a thread palette, and even has a matching tiny scissor fob! Every Stitch has a story - so that's why there are 19 different ones decorating the edge of this. Then, there are 9 bitty silver rings to hold your threads - stitch the numbers and then number them from your chart to identify them. The complete kit contains chart, linen, flosses, stitch diagrams, rik rak and felt for finishing, and a little bit of stitching history! Sharon has made small loops on the back of the thread board to secure your scissors as well!
Three Snowy Hills Three Snowy Hills - This should appeal to the organization in you... perfect little houses atop perfect little hills... but maybe you could add a snowman to one of the yards, a little dog in another and a bitty sled on one of the hills? Instead of the alphabet, it might be fun to list all the neat things you do at home during a snowstorm -- like bake and do puzzles! Finishing approx 13 x 4-1/2, it is coded for Eggshell, Black Coffee, English Ivy, Licorice Red, roasted Chestnut and Chai hand-dyed flosses -- or DMC.
Vanilla and Chocolate Like Ebony and Ivory living together in perfect harmony... V & C make a classic couple! Little House has a cute piece that is stitched -- appropriately -- on 30ct Week's Cocoa Linen! Finishing approx 3-1/2 x 8-1/2. Offered as a chart with fabric thread-book available separately!
Red Rooster Inn Cute if you changed that name to yours and hung it in the kitchen - ONLY you need to be a good cook and offer stunning breakfasts! Finishes approx 7-1/2 x 8
The Mercantile The Mercantile goes so perfectly with her Yesteryear and Old West designs, and the Country Cottage Cowboy Dreams piece! Both offered as charts, DMC or overdyed flosses, nice additions to Little House's growing collection of designs.
Forest Friends Measures 81 x 148 in stitch count -- approx 5 x 9 on 32ct. Coded for both DMC and Classic Colorworks hand-dyed flosses, you have a well-manicured yard full of curious critters! Actually, only the bear belongs in the forest -- but I know lots of people that have bears in their yards, too!!! Chart format.
Peace and Plenty A simple verse that spells out our lives... this features little trees just like the LHN logo tree! Finishing approx 5 x 8 on a 32ct, wouldn't this make a neat housewarming gift, if you added a bit of personalization? Hazelnuts, pine greens, rosewood, and cream... really pretty colors... you could change the house colors, give the trees seasonal colors... lots of fun stuff!!! Crisp and Balanced! |
|||||||
Poinsettia House A charming Christmas house... I think of our Mary -- your faithful SN webmaster! When she was in grad school for horticulture... she grew poinsettias in the Kansas State University greenhouses!!! (She critiques in nurserys all season long... but still enjoys big poinsettias every year!) Offered as a chart, this finishes approx 7 x 7 on 28ct.
Beachy Keen Here's a fun little 4 x 4 design to make you smile. Presented as a small chart, you could add some beads to the sand, maybe a couple of wooden beads for the coconuts? Blue metallic filament in the water for a bit of shine... and even add some baby shells (Hobby Lobby has them in the bead section) by that little castle! Coded for both DMC and 3 shades of Classic Colorworks hand-dyed floss.
Happy Harvest A cheerful barn-like farmhouse surrounded by the Autumn trees, a garden full of plump pumpkins and BIG, hungry crows in the yard! I'm kind of a random person sometimes -- so I think it'd be fun to shake up that bottom border a little -- rearrange the veges a bit and add a couple beneath the trees. Maybe even drop a leaf or two. Offered as a small chart, it finishes approx 5 x 5 on 32ct.
Welcome Spring and Spring Birds We haven't finished with Winter around here, the weather-people say... but 'tis the season to get ready for everything pastel and Springy! Two new charts... Welcome Spring is a cute row of carrots with resident garden bunnies. Each side is the mirror image of the other in this, stitch three carrots and 2 rabbits with their borders, and you've got it! Take the letters out of the carrots, add a few beads or special stitches to them and do the bunnies with Rainbow Gallery's Wisper... a smattering of JABCO buttons in the yellow and white flowers -- lots of potential here!
Home for the Holidays Here's a little 6-1/2 inch quick-stitch for the Holidays. Worked on 32ct Water Lily linen, which has a lovely mossy green tint to it, you can make individual ornaments out of the houses... or even make a two-sided cushion with the row of houses on the front and the words on the back. Teeny gingerbread people (only 9 x 13 in stitch count!), and peppermint words, the chart is coded for DMC and/or Classic Colorworks. Stitch the family name in the band of snow along the bottom!
Merry and Bright Merry and Bright measures 6 x 8 on 32ct. It doesn't call for any beads or metallics... but wow... you could really get creative with this! Lots of pretty metallics or buttons for the stars... Mill Hill snowflakes (either the glass or metal ones would be fun), then opalescents for shine or Wisper thread for fluff in the snow... definitely beads for those cute little trees... this is presented as a chart.
Let Us Rejoice DMCs and hand-dyeds in this 6 x 8-1/2 inch piece. You may want to change the house color to stand out better against the recommended fabric, or darken that background a little.
Cake Menu Choose your poison! A sweet listing of life's treats, this measures 65 x 163 in stitch count and is coded for DMC floss.
Spring Violets When the spring breezes blow, the violets all share, their sweet smelling scent with the birds in the air. A sweet Springtime piece... if you start it now... you'll be done in time for those blossoms! Offered as a chart, this finishes approx 6 x 13 on 28ct, and uses a mixture of Weeks and Crescent Colours Overdyeds and a few DMCs too. Very pretty, vibrant lavender and greens!
Cookies & Milk The bestest comfort food snack! Finishing approx 5-1/2 x 7-1/2 on 30ct Cocoa Linen, coded for DMC or hand-dyeds.
Family Home Is what makes a house a home. Something fun for a growing family... this might make a nice housewarming gift. Add the family surname, you could add initials below the people... and I bet you can find a tiny dog or cat chart somewhere and add that in here too! Right now, with no design changes, it will finish approx 9 x 4 on 32ct. Offered as a chart, it uses DMC and hand-dyeds.
Noel Christmas designs... Stocking is small -- only 45 x 48 stitches. It features a cut of wool or fabric as the stocking! I could see a JABCO bell button on the end of the hat.. a carrot nose button, and red beads for all those berries! Cute! Noel is larger -- 101 x 162. Lots of Gentle Art flosses, I love the distressed dishes holding the ornaments -- but those glass balls would be neat presented by themselves, as well. A neat, unique design. All are offered as charts.
Stitch an Inch Garden from By the Bay This is a fun collection of 24 different flowers that are all 28 x 28 stitches each. Donna presented them in 6 color families - 1 color set of 4 flowers each month. She has all sorts of borders in the charts, so you can stitch flowers individually or grouped just about anyway you want! That big box of the 24 shows everything in the set, but you can arrange THAT piece any way you wish as well! A little confusing because there are so many options... but basically you are getting 24 different-but-coordinating flowers... all an inch or two in size... in a rainbow of colors! This series began in January of 2019 and finished in June of 2019.
Bird Song from Samplers Not Forgotten This is a charming piece by Samplers Not Forgotten, stitched with Gentle Art Sampler Threads of Onyx, Oatmeal, Picnic Basket, Brandy, Buckeye Scarlet, Endive, Piney Woods, Cottage Blue and Toasted Barley. On 40ct, it'll finish approx 10 x 7, and features teeny Padded Satins on the birds in the border, and more along the bottom in the green grass. The wild vines and swirly roses are delghtful! A fun little piece offered as a chart.
Isabill Robb 1803 Such a pretty sampler that our image doesn't come close to doing it justice. This has a stitch count of 447 x 481 -- so on 36ct, for instance, it'll finish approx 25 x 27 -- awesomely huge! LOTS of delicate design detail in here... great floral borders, some over-one work, lots of elegant floral motifs. Charted for DMC or silk, there are only 11 colors used. Really nice balance, this is offered as a chart.
Fourth of July Picnic Here's a fun piece -- it sports a lot of different little borders and a flower urn that features buttons or stitched flowers -- or both! Just 130 x 100 -- approx 7 x 6 on 36/18ct, this is worked with Sampler Threads of Onyx, Picket Fence, Wheat Fields, Endive, Freedom, dungarees, Cranberry, Linen, heirloom gold and Picnic Basket. I like the borders and those buttons -- there is a house in the background -- maybe your fabric choice will let that show up a little better. Cute as a door-stop block!!!
Autumn 1831 A quiet, house... what I really like on here is that gorgeous floral vine border. It winds all over the piece and is different all the way around. There are several white flowers in it that you cannot see on the cover pic. The entire piece finished approx 11 x 10 on 36ct, colors used are: Blackbird, Burnt Orange, Dark Chocolate, Barn Gray, Onyx, Honeycomb, Eggshell and Endive.
Laundry Day Laundry Room -- Wash * Dry * Fold -- Repeat Something cute to decorate the walls of your laundry room -- if you have a nice one! (mine is behind my furnace in the basement... so all I'll enjoy is a stitched model in the shop!) Samplers Not Forgotten has released this charming design -- all yummy, faded colors of Gentle Art Sampler Threads -- that finishes approx 11 x 11 on 36ct. Stitched with Harvest Basket, Barn Grey, Butternut Squash, Liberty, Dungarees, Baby Spinach, Chalk, Picnic Basket, Onyx and Garden Gate, the dusty grays and denims are perfect with the soft yellows of the flowers. Did you notice that the border is made of wooden clothespins? And... this is a much more FUN way to use the stray buttons that come off in the wash, instead of sewing them back on where they came from! Liberty - Very primitive in feel... looks like the yellow house from With Needle and Thread's Sampler and the girl from 4th of July - but not exact. Fun border, pretty colors, just quiet. Measures 8 x 10 on 36ct, coded for Weeks flosses.
One Stitch at a Time This is a sewing envelope design that features three panels of stitching along with a small matching fob/cushion piece. Stitched on a 32 or 36 neutral linen, the colors are quite pale - Confederate Gray, Adobe, Dove, Garrison Green and Arrowhead. Kimberly wanted a soft and antiquey look on her 5 x 5 envelope which is trimmed with lady dot's Blue Fescue Velvet and Rainy ribbon. The cut of wool you see measures 3 x 4 - to help with perspective. Since Kimberly designed this during all the lockdowns... fabric shopping for lining was not an option, but know that you can line your piece with anything else besides the solid you see behind that small wool panel. *Beautiful things come together one stitch at a time.*
Strawberry Pincushion Just a bitty wisp of a thing, this measures only 30 x 35 stitches... and uses just 5 colors. I think the red ribbon edging really sets it off beautifully! Offered as a chart.
Blessed and Thankful I think that verse is describing the little squirrel! Stitched on 36ct (only the words are stitched over one thread) with Cypress, Charcoal, Picnic Basket, Endive, Cidermill Brown and Fragrant Cloves... this finishes approx 6-1/2 inches square on 36ct. I think some veins (long stitches) in the leaves would be pretty, and what about some Leviathons in the acorns and Satins on the caps?
Scarlett House | |||||||
Holiday Berries, Mary Broom 1824 Tanya Brockmeyer of The Scarlett House has three new releases!

Ann Forfitt 1812 Nicola writes that nothing can be found about Ann Forfitt in family records of England! She did, however, stitch this gorgeous sampler that measures an impressive 519 x 570 in stitch count! Finishing approx 29 x 32 on 36ct, the verse was first published in the 1700s. Nicola has recharted this from the original sampler, which is part of her personal collection. The booklet is lovely as always, there is a lot of fun history about the village listed on the sampler, and the chart covers several pages, and is presented in full color.
Hariet Hartland 1782 A favorite at 'Hands Across' this is large - about 14 x 16 on 40ct. Lots of special stitches along the little hills - the flower chart are all really pretty in here. 6 Pages of info about Hariet, her life and life in her time, the verses she used, on and on... I think I'm going to summarize the history a little but after the first paragraph of 6 pages, I'm overwhelmed at the info Nicola has just give me!
When Thou Art Rich 239 x 257, 12 shades of cottons or silks. The pic is too red, fabric is really buttercream.
| |||||||
Harry Potter, Star Wars Wow... something fun through our doors this week! Licensed by all the right people... (Disney, WBEI and LFL) we are excited to offer these fun 6-inch scissors in protective 'pleather' decorated sheaths! Each pair measures 6 inches in overall length, and their companion (plasticy-leathery) sheaths measure 5 inches. Tips are not super pointy, and I wouldn't use these to cut fabrics... but the blades are sharp and they work great on paper and threads. We think Santa needs to bring these for ANYBODY who loves Harry Potter. (They'd make great stocking stuffers). Each style's decorations are enameled on the handles, and they look really nice. We think because of the 6-inch size they'd be good for anyone in 5th or 6th grade and older - definitely not for little-little kids. I tried to shoot pics of them with both front and back sheath decorations showing... we just think they're pretty cool around here!
Noel Feutre This is a darling little design that features some bits of wool felt applique as parts of the design. Stitched in Gentle Art Sampler Threads and bits of DMC, check out the mushroom top, the tree and the gifts... they aren't stitched! They are bits of wool sewn on! The chart does have them charted... and in those instructions, I also noticed the charted greens at the top and bottom -- but in the model they are primitive stitched! REALLY cute! So... you can stitch the entire piece, or add the buttons and ribbons and bits of fun fabrics if you like! Noel Feutre is presented in French -- so I can't read a word of the instructions except the thread names and DMC numbers. Stitch count is163 x 100, this is a chart.
Miss Paris Stitch count of 109 x 87, she's full of pink, and black charm! She's the consummate shopper, don't you just want to be in Paris with her and her little white dog???? Finishing approx 5 x 7 on 32ct, she'd make a darling photo album cover, or look great on the front of a little pink polka-dot tote! Just a delightful design... a favorite of mine!
Les Trois Sages 'Three Wisemen.' A trio of little stitched Santa Elves! The stitched area on these is approx 45 x 90. You stitch the face and body, stuff them, and add the charming curly-q legs and some stick arms... and you have a precious trio! There are finishing instructions inside printed in English; she calls the stuffing 'wadding!' All three are charted in the pack.
Toc Toc Toc We're not sure what the title of this means, as one site translated to fake, fake! Another translated it as Knock, Knock Knock. We think it's a darling piece -- Santa is there with Rudolph (see the red nose!) -- there are snowflakes scattering across the sky, we just like the whole 'flavor' of the 122 x 126 design. This one uses lots of Sampler Threads -- Onyx, Piney Wood, Weathered Barn, Cherry Wine and Sarsaparilla.
Le Nuage de Pere Noel 'The cloud of Father Christmas'... he's saying that he sees the wise children. In other words, that means that Santa is watching and seeing all the good children before he visits on Christmas! (even without his glasses on -- see them by his boots!?) So whimsical and cute, stitch count of 120 x 171, just charming!
Quand le Chat est la... When the cat is... (out, the mouse will play!) Oh my gosh, check out the CHARM of this piece! The cat is rotund, with that awesome curly tail, the mouse is wearing a pink Tu-Tu! The tiny bluebird is just singing away... he's not worried about life at all!!!!! Over-the-top personality in these two 90 x 75 pieces!
| |||||||
Primitive Village Roll Don't these houses look like those little painted wooden block houses??? Stitch this row of houses on just about any fabric you want... Liezbeth has chosen a 20ct for this -- so her pillow is 28 x 5! Actually, bigger, because she has that cool row of mismatched buttons going across the top. Very pretty, this is coded for regular DMC floss. If you want to work it on the larger linen -- we suggest #5 Pearl Cotton -- just like the Sepherd's Bush stockings. It covers well, is super easy to use, and comes in all the good colors -- DMC OR Hand-dyed!
In Memory of Jane Well, I don't know who Jane is... but I bet she had to learn this multiplication table... and it took her a long time to do it! Somehow or another these old tables always draw comments and are very eyecatching as needlework hanging on your wall. I guess all the numbers look daunting, until we remember that all of us learned all of this at some point, and were probably miserable during the process -- maybe like Jane? Finishing approx 10 x 13, it is a charming table with some softly colored quilt blocks lining the sides.
Cornelia Holy Sheep -- this is cute! Swirls and scallops decorate these silly square sheep -- your challenge is to find cool buttons to string for her legs and maybe a funky base for her as well. You'll need a schnigglet cut of black wool to make her face, and bits of any fabric you like to stitch her... you even choose whatever colors of thread you like. Her little legs are simply lengths of heavy thread knotted with several buttons on them, so they jiggle a lot. If you put Cornelia on a springy base, she'll jiggle around. One of the pics on the cover features an old C-clamp as the base -- how cute to simply clamp her to the edge of a shelf or obscure table or lonely windowsill off in the corner of the room?? Offered as a chart, this is really a clever design!
The Cabinet Oh, this is full of what-nots, curiosities, toys, antiques, even a pile of fabrics, a sewing basket and tiny 'home sweet home' sampler!!! I love the part that this whole thing is stuffed full of *stuff* and then, there at the bottom is a sign that says 'Simplify!' What a fun piece! This measures 150 x 265 stitches -- so approx 9-1/2 x 16-1/2 inches on 32ct. Lots and lots of Gentle Art Sampler Threads or DMC colors, this is another piece that could handle any number of bitty embellishments you have unclaimed in your stash. Liezbeth has finished this in the shape of a little piece of furniture!
Pinkeep of the Day This is actually the cutest thing! You stitch a different stylized flower for each day of the week. Find that cool *Simplify* ribbon (a search on the web??). (We're back to the silliness that pin cushions for every day of the week really don't simplify your life -- but who cares?!) Then, find a MANGY wood tray or box. LOOK at what Liezbeth has done... she's found assorted and unmatched cabinet knobs (Anthropologie has tons of cool ones... old glass, mangy metal!), screwed them into the tray and hung her cushions!! Super cool and creative! And the little flower cushions are delightful -- don't forget about them!
Strawberry Fields Strawberry houses, strawberry vines, a jar of jam... and a few lyrics from The Beatles... this is an interesting sampler with an equally interesting little mushroom house down near the bottom. Can you see the Strawberry outline in the center around the tree -- it has an alphabet all around it. Fields finishes approx 16 x 26 on 35ct -- so it's quite large. Worked in all three brands of hand-dyed flosses or DMC, that little strawberry at the top is upside down, the top greens making the landscaping... and it's a little house!!!! (make it into a scissor fob or a little thimble holder!)
Rudolph's Travels Oh gosh, this is cute! That same little fence as the sheep, this time we have the reindeer flying through the sky with the hint of the sleigh behind! Check out the finishing fabrics... choose something cute for the sky, and something coordinating for the sides -- and rik rak to cover the seams. Look at how she's graduated the buttons on there to follow the deer up into the sky? Sampler Threads for everythong, this finishes approx 5 x 10. Real cute finishing that is different!!!!br>
New Spring 2022 Arrivals
| |||||||
Hannah and her Birds This is a fun Springtime scene... I especially like the flower vines along the sides. All the houses are a little different... not so much the birds! Stitched on 36ct, it'll finish a petite 6 x 7 inches, and it is worked with Gentle Art Sampler Threads or DMC.
Sale Designs from Thistles!
| |||||||
Home Is Where My heart Is from Thistles Thistles has a new design - a cute little pink and brown house surrounded by Cupid's arrows! It is shown finished into a heart-shaped cushion - it's actually rather large at 4 x 9 so that pillow is probably 8 x 11. Stitched with a smattering of Sampler threads, the chart is coded for DMC as well.
Crows & Pumpkins from Thistles A fun medley of pumpkins, squash and crows... this displays a fun finishing idea. Each 'side' of the curtain is 80 x 185 stitches -- the design is reversed on the opposite side. (So, you only have to stitch this once if you want to make a pillow or something, and it could be 5 x 12 on 32ct.) Actually, it is finished as a curtain valance worked on 20ct linen. It features woolen hanging tabs at the top and penny-rug-flaps along the bottom for decoration. Really, really cute, I see this hanging in a cabin kitchen window, or a tiny powder room. Worked on 20ct linen, our 18ct will work as well... it just needs to be washed and dried in the dryer to get it soft and drapy. You can use DMC or hand-dyed floss -- at least 3 stands in the needle -- or size 5 Pearl Cotton. If you choose to make the curtain... just hang it in the most charming little window you can find!

The Great Cheshire Pumpkin and Ebony and Ivory from Tempting Tangles
For the Kitchen! Retro Kitchen Mixer Just too darn cute! 60 x 63 Stitches... DMC or Anchor... offered as a small chart.
Christmas Trio We saw the finished pin cushion models from this -- they were really cute! Put them on gingham or polka dot linen -- they were 2 x 5 and 2 x 3-osh each!
Happy Easter Trio The cutest things on here are the sheep and bunnies! The main piece is 4 x 5 -ish, the little fob is 27 x 27 (but you could leave off the year and it'd be half the size). The biscornu is super-cute -- like the others, it'll be fine finished flat if you like that shape better!
Kitchen Gadgets from Tiny Modernist Another fun thing for a first new kitchen! It'd be fun to find a retro set of glasses and lemonade pitcher at the flea market -- kind of like those pictured on the cover -- and use this as a housewarming gift! Offered as the chart, stitch count is 56 x 146.
Easter Bunny House Tiny Modernist has finished her 4-part set of this darling little Egg House! We have all 4 charts bundled together now, so you can have the whole thing at one time! Measuring 136 x 179 - it finishes approx 10 x 13 on 14ct... actually pretty big in size. Charted for DMC thread, the whole thing is full of sweet little motifs, but I like the egg-painting table the best! Set of 4 charts.
Love Always - A sweet smaller piece - this could be a wedding sampler, or just something fun to hang in your family room. If you don't have a pink and red house - change it! Stitch count is 101 x 76, so this'll finish just 5 x 6 on 36/18 ct. Clay Pot, Cocoa Bean, Cobbled Peach, Cherry Cobbler Oscar and Graphite are the featured colors.
Christmas Robins Scissor Fob A charming little design -- it's a double-decker fob!!! A trio of chubby winter robins -- dressed in Christmas finery with their Santa Hats on -- they are so simple, yet so cute! THEN... why haven't we thought of this before???? DOUBLE fobs??? What a cool way to use coordinating designs?! What a neat way to use cool beads from your embellishment stash?! (With so many designs... you could stitch a tiny bit of the larger design as an accent... and attach it to the main piece!) Anyway, Christmas Robins's top design measures 39 x 46, while the bottom is a mere 25 x 25. Choose your fabric of choice... grab DMC floss from your stash and get BUSY! Offered as a chart.

In the Garden With Mimi-Pig! By Fairy Wool in the Wood, this charming 140 x 140 design features Mimi with her watering can surrounded by 6 blocks that feature scenes from her garden. Stitched on Fairy Wool's own hand-dyed 32ct linen (finishes 9 x 9), she has funny little blotches on here that look strange when nothing is stitched on it, but when you're finished, they look like little splotches of garden dirt! The fruit trees, the veges and tools, something about this is really charming. Everyone was into stickers this year at Market (I believe this is a limited edition market exclusive) and along with the linen I bought for each pattern, they all come with a sheet of Cassandra Fairywool's whimsical artwork on the charming stickers!
Snowy 9 Patch - Complete! All nine small parts to this design are now here... our sets are complete! A whole medley of little snowmen doing Christmassy things, they are all stitched on 32ct natural/polka dot Belfast Linen. Each section measures 3 X 3... stitch them individually or together! Presented as nine separate charts, we have them all, but you can choose any or all that you want!
C is for Coffee

Church Doll Sampler Roll Heartstring Samplery's Beth Twist has a few new designs... I think this Sampler Roll Pocket is especially charming! With a stitch count of 123 x 210, this is a patchwork sampler that is finished into a rolled pocket to hold a precious fabric doll, and maybe a few miniature dishes!!! Inspired by antiques... Beth even supplies information abut the teeny dishes in here! Stitched on Weeks linens, there are two different colorway options included in the chart, as well as basic doll instructions. (Olde Colonial's Miss Penny doll might fit in here...)
My Sweet Home This piece can be stitched a couple of different ways... one with trees and a house, one without those but a picture inside instead. Using Weeks flosses, this finishes about 6 x 9 on 36ct... but if you are going to use a photo in the center - you might have to adjust your fabric count to make sure it fits. A really cool way to showcase a special family photo, it could be a 'family established' piece.
Pincushion Street - What a fun piece to hang in your foyer or guest room! Come in the evening or come in the morning -- come when you're looked for or come without warning. Friends always welcome on Pincushion Street. Not an original verse and it turns out that there are several *Pincushion* streets and avenues around the world as well! Doesn't make this any less charming! The big blue house is a combination of Brethren Blue and Bayberry Sampler Threads -- and this finishes approx 15-1/2 x 9 on 32ct.
Arrivals from Hands On Design
| |||||||
Indigo Star Inspired by Polish Pottery patterns and hand-dyed indigo cottons, Cathy designed this sampler and the coordinating 5-pointed star pin cushion! The star is what fascinates me -- there are 8 different rectangular panels offered - choose 5 of the patterns for your star. She has you actually CUT right through some of your stitching... that is part of the reason why it looks like old scraps of fabric -- cut where-ever! The main sampler is stitched with Weeks navy floss and finishes approx 7 x 7. The star is also Navy, and finishes under 5 x 5. Offered as a chart with assembly instructions.
| |||||||
Winter Garden by Liz Mathews Winter Garden - Wintery blues and a pair of deer... this finishes about 6 x 9 on 36ct. Coded for Gloriana silk or DMC of 3859, 3750, 3051, 3011, 680, 822, 938, 3790, 932 and 535.
October Eves Just Nan's Fall releases will be arriving any day! A verse by poet Humbert Wolfe: 'Listen! The wind is rising and the air is wild with leaves. We have had our summer evenings now for October Eves!' Stitched on 32ct Country Mocha Vintage Belfast Linen with DMC and Gentle Art threads, this finishes a petite 4-1/2 inches square. Nan has scattered black and bronze glass beads here and there, and accented the garden gate with a hand-painted-by-Nan pumpkin! Offered as a leaflet with embellishments.
Gingerbread Mouse Elf Stocking Well, if this isn't the cutest thing... I don't know what is! All the Gingerbread Mice asked for a stocking to snuggle inside while hanging on your tree. Here's the first stocking design!!! Measuring just 2-1/2 inches tall, this features peppermint candy, snowflakes, a decorated tree and a little gingerbread elf posing with a candy cane and holding his tiny elf mouse!!! (The little mouse is even wearing a teenier hat!) Nan says the stocking is quick to stitch and easy to finish. Backed with red felt and trimmed with a snippet of red silk ribbon, both are included with the chart along with a gold jingle bell, 3 colors of beads, and tiny gold flower bead to crown the tree. Stuff the mini-stocking up to the cuff line, then sit your mouse inside. Add a few pins to secure and Stocking-with-Mouse are ready to hang on the tree (by his little mouse tail!) Stitched on 32ct hand-dyed Picture This Plus linen, the design area is 2-1/2 x 2-1/2.

Pumpkins Collection from Madame Chantilly I LOVE THIS! Check it out! There are like 20 different pumpkins in here... all sorts of shapes and sizes, colors and patterns... some have funny smiles, other have strange eyes... everybody is different, and together they make a family! You could choose your favorites out of all of these - stitch a grouping and NAME them all after family members! Think of the possibilities with this one!
Presenting Little Miss Strawberry and Watermelon Butts Oh my gosh, these are DARLING! Madame Chantilly has two new designs -- A Walk in the Garden, and A Walk to the Sea. Just simple, seasonal pieces, each measures about 7 x 8 on 32ct... so if you want them smaller, leave off the border. We think they are charming, and have re-named them BECAUSE of their little rumps! 'Garden' is a spring strawberry, and 'Sea' is a summer watermelon! Presented as charts.
Printemps and Ete We have two more seasons of snowglobes to join our others!!! Companioning Winter, Autumn and Christmas, each 50 x 60-ish globe is full of something for its season. Coded for DMC, they would all be cute stitched individually, but I like the idea of the trio. Stitch them on something teeny for a neat set of ornaments. Offered in chart format.
Volevo un Gatto Nero I have no idea what that title says... but I think that little owl is reading directions to his witch friend from a spells book. They may be trying to paint the white cat BLACK! Definitely a disaster, the cauldron is tipped on its side, and the kitty looks a little stunned! 159 x 98 stitches, add some metallics in those spiders and some beads to her petticoat -- how cute!
Hiver, Automne, and Noel There are trios of snowglobes -- each for its season. The charts are $26 each -- but really, you're getting 3 different 50 x 50-ish stitch count designs in each -- so they aren't too bad in price. I love each and every one of these -- each globe by itself is good -- I think the hedgehog in Autumne is my favorite, though. Stitch them in the trio, or individually -- beads and metallics are always good for the glass globes and the little floaties inside!
Halloween Week from Madame Chantilly Here's a cute little piece with a lot of small design elements that you can pull out and stitch individually. Glass jars... each features either a yummy desert, little witch, scared cat or that skull. You can put them on the shelf with the keys and greenery, or leave off the shelf and add the checkerboarded details. Those ghosts are so darn cute, too. The front of the chart has one pic, while the back features it stitched differently - so you can do a lot with this! Worked on 32ct gray linen, the individual jars are about 30 x 40, the ghosts are about 20 x 20, and everything just begs to be finished into a whole set of little pin cushions or ornaments for a Halloween tree!
Halloween Cake Pops - Wow, this is cute! Stitch a row of 5 lollypops with their hovering ghosts... leave off the words if you feel like it! 5 cute little pokes, see how cute they'd be if you did them on paper, cut them out, mounted on a stick,tied a bow, then stitched the little word block and added it... then stuck them into pumpkins or the candy bowl! I think the mummy and Frank are my favorites!
Regina Haible and Elizabeth Hunt A trio of new and reproduction samplers... Brenda has given them all gorgeous colors and new lives! Each of these is presented in a full color leaflet format
| |||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
Marie Flavin 1872 Here's another stunning antique sampler by Reflets de Soie. Just like some of her others -- this is presented in chart format. The border is different on three of the sides, color everywhere, lush alphabets and the motifs at the bottom are incredible. This particular sampler has some religious-looking motfis... may be hard to see in the pic... but some of the others that seem to companion this piece have other florals you could sub. A reproduction of a sampler stitched in 1872... I hope some of my needlework stays gorgeous for 150 years, like this one has!
Victorine Chenevas-Paule 1869 A beautiful sampler - full of floral pots and borders. The stitch count for this is 262 x 242, so it will finish about 13 inches square on 40ct. A lot of soft cremes and beige shades, it is coded for Silks (which we have) or DMC - ecru, 945, 415, 3813, 833, 522, 3362, 831, 543, 309, 842 and 732. The individual urns would make gorgeous individual pin cushions. Presented as a full color chart with silks optional.
Wedding at Mermaid Cove Oh a wedding on the beach... lots of attendants, a candle-lit church, a visiting whale in the sea, and billowy winds blowing the clouds and waves! Your hand-dyed fabric will be giving the sky its drama, so choose a pretty, happy colored piece... (don't want to start the bride and groom off with stormy skies!) Susan and Pam always put a lot of cute little motifs in these scenes - this one is no different. Measures 282 x 160 - almost 18 x 12 on 32ct, it features lots of hand-dyed and DMC colors, as well as a little metallic and some glass beads.
Memorial Park Praiseworthy Stitches has a new Summertime design -- an old fashioned ball game in the park! Stitched on 32ct light green linen with DMC and Weeks flosses, this finishes approx 12-1/2 x 6 on 28ct. It's Spring and the whole town has turned out to cheer for their teams at the first baseball game of the season. The wooden stands are packed and there are children in wagons and on the fences -- even the dog is in the outfield ready to catch one of the balls on the fly! Can't you just smell the peanuts, popcorn and the hot dogs? Yummmm! It's time to play ball! The Just Another Button Company buttons that garnish are *everywhere* in here... striped stars, the baseball, and all those little triangle flags -- those are buttons!
April Showers A spring rainshower is the theme behind this pretty rose, purple and grass green set. No design details yet, but they do have frosted flower tulip beads and the ends of the organza ribbon ties on the case, and a cute teeny umbrella charm on the beaded fob, now sold out.
Family Fourth Pat and Peggy have been super-creative these past few months dreaming up all sorts of cute new cases and Peyote Beaded Scissor Fobs! They are all due in the shop this week, and until i can get my hands on the actual kits - I cannot tell you fabrics and colors... so will fill in that info ASAP! The stitched cases are all completely kitted - finish about 3 x 6 and then fold. The completely kitted beaded fobs (which take between 3 and 4 hours to complete) are generally an inch and half log, BEFORE all that lavish beaded fringe they love to add. (Fob is now sold out) The kits are stuffed full of cool stuff... and they are including pretty good inside pics for your finishing info. Family Fourth - Looks like a schoolhouse - I think the green beads on the fob are sculpted flower shapes!
